Morning
Cooling
A cool start that wakes the eyes up, for people who sit down in front of a screen before they have properly come round.
In clinic only
A thermal eye-rest device that warms and cools in ten-minute sessions. We use it, we carry it, and it is the thing our dry eye patients ask about most.
What it is
Umay Rest sits over closed eyes and runs waves of gentle warmth and cooling for about ten minutes. Warmth is the part that matters most to us clinically — it is the same principle behind the warm compress in the CORE 4, which is why it fits so naturally alongside a dry eye plan.
It is not a treatment, and we would not sell it to you as one. Blocked meibomian glands need clearing and treating in clinic. What Umay does well is the daily maintenance in between: keeping the oil moving, giving strained eyes a genuine break, and winding you down before bed.
Most people buy it for tired screen eyes and are surprised by the sleep side of it.
How people use it
Cooling
A cool start that wakes the eyes up, for people who sit down in front of a screen before they have properly come round.
Warm and cool
Alternating thermal waves partway through a screen-heavy day, when eyes start to feel tired, dry or slow to focus.
Warming
Steady warmth before bed. This is the setting most people end up using most, and the one that tends to become a habit.
Buying one
We stock Umay Rest at both clinics. It is not something we sell online — come in, try it on, and take one home the same day if you like it.
If dry eye is the reason you are interested, book an assessment rather than just buying the device. It may well be part of the answer, but it is worth knowing what your glands are actually doing first.

Questions
On its own, no. If your meibomian glands are blocked they need treating in clinic. Umay helps you keep things comfortable day to day, and warmth does support the oil layer — but it is maintenance, not treatment. Book an assessment and we will tell you which you need.
Yes. That is rather the point of only selling it in clinic. Ask at your appointment and we will set you up with a session.
Not from us — we carry it in clinic only, at both Lendrum and Sherwood Park.
If you are partway through a dry eye course, keep using what we have given you and ask us before swapping anything out. The CORE 4 are prescribed as a set for a reason.
Curious whether Umay would help you specifically? That is an easy question to answer once we have looked at your tear film.
