Dry eye concerns

Start with what your eyes are doing

Burning, grittiness, watering, lids that are sore in the morning, vision that clears when you blink. Find what matches, and we will show you what treats it.

How to use this

Symptoms are the starting point, not the diagnosis.

Most dry eye is evaporative: the oil glands along the lid margin stop releasing properly, so tears evaporate before they can do their job. That one mechanism sits behind most of the complaints below, which is why the assessment matters more than the symptom you arrived with.

Everything here is assessed by an optometry practice, and the treatments are run by our ocular hygienists. If your glands turn out not to be the problem, we will tell you that rather than sell you a course.

Eyes and eyelids

The side of our practice that sets us apart. Every one of these starts with an optometrist’s assessment, whether or not an optometrist performs the treatment itself.

Dry, gritty or burning eyes

Most dry eye is evaporative — the oil glands in your lids have stopped releasing properly, so your tears evaporate before they can do their job. Drops soothe the symptom; light and heat treat the cause.

Treatments that help

Common questions

At home A month of the CORE 4 — warm compress, preservative-free drops, lid hygiene wipes and Omega-3 — is included in the full treatment plan. We also carry the Umay Rest thermal eye device in clinic.

Heavy or hooded eyelids

Excess skin on the upper lid that softens your eye shape, and in some cases starts to sit in your field of view. Plexr Plus tightens the skin; Morpheus8 works on what sits beneath it. Sometimes both are needed, in that order.

Not sure which of these fits? That is what a consultation is for — and we will tell you plainly if a treatment will not give you what you are hoping for.
